secondary schools

Parkside and Coleridge are relatively small secondary schools with 600 students. These comparatively small numbers allow us to offer education on a human scale. Our staff and students know one another.  Young people don't get lost in a vast educational factory, and they tell us they really feel valued.

We believe school should be an enjoyable experience for every young person. Our lessons are challenging and engaging, and students learn to work with each other and with their teachers to achieve high standards. Above all we want all students to be happy and successful in an environment where they are known as individuals.

Every student has a member of staff who acts as a Learning Mentor who supports his or her progress through our Personal Learning Planning process.  The Learning Mentor looks after no more than fifteen students so can really get to know your child well and work with you to help them succeed in lessons and other activities.

The fact that we are part of a federation enables us to offer a range of choice to students beyond that which we could provide on our own. An integrated timetable allows students to access the specialist facilities on each campus for examination courses or extra-curricular activities.

Teachers also work across our two schools, and all children follow the same curriculum.  In this way we are making sure standards at both schools are exactly the same and we expect our students to make excellent progress and achieve highly, whichever school they attend.

We are also delighted to offer a huge range of after school clubs and activities for children to get involved in, such as lessons in Latin or Chinese, Drama and Dance groups, Sports teams based in our Sports Hall and new Astroturf pitch, and the regular Breakfast and Homework clubs which operate every weekday.

If you would like to see either Parkside or Coleridge for yourself, please contact us on 01223 712600 (Parkside) or 01223 712300 (Coleridge) for a tour of the school.

Best wishes
